It’s a fact: exercise makes you happy! Exercise is now being ‘prescribed’ as a treatment for anxiety and depression by doctors, supplementing other therapies. In some cases, exercise is as effective as antidepressant medicines. Going for a run increases blood flow, creates new neural pathways in the brain, and releases those famous endorphins.

Fitness, Fun & Fellowship
We are neurologically wired to connect to other people – just like we’re wired to need exercise. Our overall health depends not only on our physical exercise, but our healthy human relationships.

Research shows that social factors can play a key role in how long and how often individuals work out, and that adherence to an exercise program increases when fitness activities are completed in a group environment. It’s been shown that treating exercise like a social, fun time is a great way to forget those negative thoughts and concentrate on you, and can increase the enjoyment of physical activity, decrease exercise anxieties, and yield additional mental benefits, such as lower stress levels, that extend past the workout.

Making fitness fun is a big priority for Tulsa Galloway.

Run-Walk-Run
The goal of Tulsa Galloway is to help both runners and walkers of all ages and abilities train for a 5K, 10K, 15K, half marathon, marathon, ultra, or year-round using Olympian Jeff Galloway’s highly successful Run-Walk-Run method: run for a predetermined length of time, take a planned walk break, repeat. Jeff’s proven method has helped hundreds of thousands to achieve their goals, injury-free.

Group Training
Tulsa Galloway offers both morning and evening coached training opportunities throughout the week. This helps to reduce the number of participants at any given workout and allows for social distancing.

The minimum necessary to train for any distance is just three runs a week: two weekday runs of 30-45 minutes and a longer run on Saturday. Tulsa Galloway offers a customized training program tailored to each person’s current fitness level and distance goal. You will run with others your own pace no matter what distance you are training for. A Pace Group Leader keeps the speed slow enough for all members, and enforces walk breaks from the beginning to the end.
